CHRISTMAS CARD no. 1

Christmas cards are a great way to share the gospel with family, friends, co-workers, etc. At this time of year people are more open to the gospel of Jesus Christ. They may not read a standard tract but they will probably read a Christmas card.

Why was Jesus born?

Jesus left heavens glory (where he was loved and worshipped by the angels) to come down to our world. Here was the creator of the world, humbling himself, being born as a baby, for you. Yes for you. As the Savior left heaven, he knew he would spend nine months in a womb, then grow from an infant into a man without sin (completely blameless), spending 33 years away from God, just to die a cruel death, to pay for your sins. He knew he would be hated and mocked. He knew he would be beaten, tortured, spit upon and left hanging on a cross (by nails). He knew it would be a most painful death brought on by the people that he loved so much. As he hung on the cross, in agony, he asked God to forgive his tormenters because they didn't know what they were doing. He did all of this willingly because he loves you. God wants you in heaven with him, after you pass this life. John 3:16-17 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. We put Jesus on that cross, just as much as the Roman soldiers did, with our sin. Romans 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; But Jesus still loves us no matter what we've done.  When He died on the cross, He paid not just for certain sins, but for ALL sin.  He paid for every sin that ever has been, and ever will be, committed.  That is why he was born.  His gift to you is free salvation (life in heaven forever) if you will accept it.  Hell was created for the devil and his angels: If you don't accept the Lord as your savior that is where you will end up after you die.  The Bible warns that the only two places to go after death is heaven or hell.  Satan wants to bring everyone to hell (where he will be tormented forever), which is why he's deceived many into believing that good works can get them into heaven.  But the Bible teaches that you can't work your way into heaven.  Ephesians 2:8-9 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.  If we could work our way to heaven, Jesus would not have had to die on the cross or even been born at all.

Just as the thief on the cross (next to Jesus) did, you must realize you're a sinner and believe the gospel of Jesus Christ to be saved.  You must trust in the shed blood of Jesus Christ only for salvation.  You must be sorry to God for your sin.  You must repent of your sin (a change of mind which results in a change of life).  You must call upon the Lord to save you.  Romans 10:13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.  Once Jesus Christ saves you it's forever.  You can never lose your salvation.  John 10:28 And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.  If you call on Jesus to save you, tell him you're a sinner that deserves hell and that you're sorry for your sin, tell him you're trusting in him alone for your salvation, tell him you will live for him after he saves you this will be the best Christmas you've ever had.  Your life will change and you will be guaranteed a home in heaven.
